Hello Friends,<\/div>\n
It\u2019s almost the end of July and wow, such beautiful weather!\u00a0 I wanted to give you an update of my status:\u00a0 By the title of the email, yes, I have lost a little more kidney function the past\u00a0few weeks.<\/div>\n
As the Dr shared, I will start to get sicker.\u00a0 I can attest to this.\u00a0 I have been dealing with dizziness, disorientation, nausea, and the symptoms I had before like fatigue, high blood pressure, lack of sleep\u00a0at night, loss of appetite.. they have also increased.\u00a0 I do still have my \u201cgood days\u201d.\u00a0 So far, today is pretty good\u2026<\/div>\n
I have learned more about everything ( diets I will need to adapt to; choosing my dialysis option, medicare\u2026) as I attended a 2 day workshop a few weeks ago. I\u00a0met a couple more people that have experienced the exact same thing and are also in their early thirties.\u00a0 This has truly been a blessing!<\/div>\n
I have been able to talk with 4 of my 5 brothers\u2013 they are more than willing to be donors.\u00a0 I have been also very, very touched with friends as well as strangers who have offered to consider donating as well.\u00a0 I think I have 20-25 people that have offered this.\u00a0 Wow!\u00a0 what a testimony of paying it forward.<\/div>\n
Yesterday,\u00a0I went to the dialysis clinic- met my nurse and social worker\u2013 they are very neat women and funny too!\u00a0When I was told to start thinking about having a\u00a0living will, durable power of attorney, DNR\u2026 wow, such heavy stuff to think about.\u00a0 It is really starting to sink in.\u00a0 The word i can share when people\u00a0ask how am I feeling?\u00a0 My simple answer is overwhelmed. So much to take in, process; so much information to read\u2026major life altering decisions to make\u2026<\/div>\n
Monday, I will meet with the surgeon to discuss my catheter- this is how I will receive dialysis.\u00a0 This is an outpatient procedure that will probably take place in the next week, 2 at most.<\/div>\n
I have not been put on the transplant list.\u00a0 I just received my paperwork from KU Med last week and filled it out. Once they receive it back completed, they will set up an appt to start my evaluation.<\/div>\n
I will more than likely be\u00a0creating a face-book page (as I was highly encouraged by a recent transplant patient and a new friend of mine)- this will help give updates as well share with you how you can consider being a donor, or help in any way.<\/div>\n
I am\u00a0in the process of moving back home with my folks.\u00a0 I am being very, very humbled by this.\u00a0 I am grateful that my parents are both still together and live in the area.\u00a0 I know this is what God is directing and\u00a0He\u00a0is definitely bringing my family closer together.<\/div>\n
I have been so incredibly blessed with the\u00a0hospitality and generosity\u00a0of many of you.\u00a0 You have brought me great food; you have helped with my laundry; housecleaning; packing..Some have even given financially.\u00a0 I greatly appreciate any help that has been given.\u00a0 In terms of food\u2026 I am on such a restricted diet now, it\u2019s a complicated nightmare to share what I may be able to eat.\u00a0 Please consult with me first, before getting any groceries to prepare anything.\u00a0 I have learned that each patient is different and has a diet specifically for them.\u00a0 I have not met with a dietitian yet.<\/div>\n
I know many of you are asking how you can be of help?\u00a0 Continue to pray- Here are some specifics: \u00a0Pray that God will give me, my parents and\u00a0my brothers wisdom.\u00a0 Pray for guidance with the Drs, nurses, transplant team, Insurance companies\u2026 Pray for peace.\u00a0 Pray that I will not have fear, anxiety\u2013 these are big.\u00a0 Pray that God will provide the monetary means for all of this.\u00a0 Pray for strength.<\/div>\n
I have thought of some things I do need to make life and me more comfortable: a new mattress, a laptop; and a digital camera.\u00a0 If you can help with any of these- if you know someone that has connections with these, I greatly appreciate it.\u00a0 I know, there\u2019s Craig\u2019s list.\u00a0 I haven\u2019t taken time to research as I have barely enough energy to get through this email to\u00a0you.<\/div>\n
