Hello friends! I still haven’t heard from my nurse coordinator. I will yet again be leaving another message this week. I did find out Friday as I was at the dialysis clinic for my monthly visit to see the Nephrologis, Dietician, and Social Worker that the transplant team is ready for me. They are eagerly waiting to activate me. To become officially active, I must start the blood thinner. More than likely I will be taking the shots, ugh! Thank you for the ecouragment with this.
I had another good lab report! My Albumin dropped a little from the “perfect 4.0, A+” to 3.8 (still an A). My Potassium is still good; my Calciums also still good. Drum Roll Please…. My Phosphorus has dropped more from 5.0 to 2.9- this is fantastic! This helps with the Parathyroid Hormone as it also has dropped from 233 to 102. Why it’s so important to keep the phosphorus and PTH down so my bones don’t get weak and break. My phosphorus and PTH have been really high for over 6 months. My hemoglobins getting low and I have to have an iron injection this week. The Neph was suprised the last time I had one was June 2009. Most kidney/dialysis patients get them at least once a year.
Blood pressures still maintaining normal.
Desperate Housewives tonight was about Susan (Terry Hatcher’s) trials in waiting for a kidney. She (in my opinion) is being stupid and kinda selfish because she doesn’t want her friends to be burdened by all the testing to be a donor, so she needs to ask strangers to.She’s supposedly dying rather quickly. One of her girlfriends literally goes door to door asking neighbors to be tested. So this same girlfriend gathers the entire neighborhood over for a brunch. She presents the Transplant Doctor to alleviate any concerns the neighbors have like being too old, how big are the scars… Then, has a nurse come out with a cart to do the testing right there.
My mom and a good girlfriend of mine have encouraged me to watch it as they have done a really good job portraying what it’s actually like to be on the waiting list. I have gotten very emotional watching these episodes and it’s also has gripped my curiosity as why Marc CHerry chose to do a story like this. I am going to try to contact him and thank him for drawing awareness to kidney transplants.
I am truly grateful for “Mr. Right”- he is the best thing that has happened to me in a long time!To have his unconditional love and support makes this journey so much more pleasant. Its very common for significant others and spouses to abandon dialysis patients through this- they give up and can’t deal with it any more. Granted, it’s only been a few months for Mr. Right- I still ask the hard questions and make sure he’s not gonna fall into that statistic. He knows he’ll have many people wanting his head if he does…
Will keep you all posted on my activation status and of course my overall health.
Thanks always for the love, prayers, and encouraging support!
